General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC)

The General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) is an advisory body to the City Council, formed to represent residents, businesses and other community stakeholders in the development of the General Plan. The GPAC provides a forum to ensure that a range of voices and interests is heard and considered in the process.

The GPAC is one of several avenues for public input to the City Council on the General Plan Update. At the culmination of each phase of the work, the City Council will receive and review the input from the GPAC, City staff, Planning Commission, and the Camarillo community (residents and stakeholders) in their review of milestone documents, and ultimately, in their decision for adoption of an updated General Plan.

GPAC Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Recommending strategies to effectively engage with Camarillo residents and businesses and helping to promote public participation in the General Plan Update process.
  • Reviewing and providing input to help refine working documents, including the Vision and Guiding Principles, the alternatives, the Preferred Plan Concept, and draft policies for the General Plan Update, with the goal of assuring all segments of the community are involved/heard and that their input is considered.
  • Advising and informing City staff, consultants, and the City Council as to community priorities and preferences.
  • Making recommendations on topics identified by the City Council.
  • Building community interest and public support for the General Plan Update.
  • Representing the resident and stakeholder views of the projects in the community at-large and in public forums, including at Planning Commission and City Council meetings.
